Using a Beneficiary Designation to Make a Gift to Charity

TROY is important to me because it’s where I got my start in journalism thanks to TROY’s hand-on award winning journalism program. I got to learn from the best professors and work at the tv station even as a college student and that led to a 20-year career as a news anchor.
Now I teach in TROY’s Journalism and Communications Department and it’s so exciting to be able to celebrate with the students when they get jobs. To be able to teach them and care about them the way that my professors cared about me.
I decided to leave a legacy gift to TROY because of how much the University means to me, how much it gave to me when I was an undergrad, how much it means to me to have my Master’s degree from TROY. I just truly wanted to give back so that the next generation of students can have the same rewarding experience that I did.
I think it’s important for alumni to give back to TROY, because of how much TROY gave to us. We all remember how wonderful it was to be on campus as an undergrade. So many of us have multiple degrees from TROY and I think it is important for the alumni to give back the way that people before us gave back so that was can continue to inspire and encourage the next generation of TROY Trojans!
